Performance Foodservice in Columbus, OH is seeking an entry-level Driver Trainee to learn to drive tractor trailers and straight trucks on local routes. You will complete safety checks, training, and on-the-job deliveries while adhering to DOT rules and company policies.

This role starts with hands-on training, shadowing a driver trainer, and advancing to delivering customer orders, unloading, collecting signatures, and maintaining paperwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
• 1 year of service in good standing for internal candidates, 0-6 months for external hires.
• Valid CDL A
• Must be 21 years of age
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Clean MVR for past 3 years
• Pass post offer drug test
• Pass road test
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card
• Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move freight of varying size and weight

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete the Driver Trainee training program.
• Ride-with and assist driver trainer during deliveries.
• Perform safety checks (pre/post trip) per DOT regulations.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safety guidelines.
• Inspect trailer and ensure proper loading; complete paperwork.
• Drive to deliver customer orders per route schedule.
• Unload products and verify delivery with customer; collect signatures.
• Secure equipment and complete required paperwork.
• Enter hours of service in daily logs per DOT/Company requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness of tractor, dock area, and trailers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
