Job summary

Würth Baer Supply Company is seeking a permanent CDL-A Driver for a local, first-shift route based in West Haven, CT. You will make customer deliveries on a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or until route completion, and operate a 28-foot curtain side truck with possible 53-foot dock use.

Starting pay is $27.00 per hour, with biweekly pay and a $2,000 performance bonus paid on 90 and 180 days. Benefits include health, life, tuition reimbursement, a 401(k) with company match, paid

Qualifications

• CDL-A or CDL-B license required.
• Valid DOT Medical Card (Medical Examiner's Certificate).
• Must be able to drive a manual transmission if needed.
• Must maintain a safe driving record (MVR).

Responsibilities

• Load truck with sit-down propane forklift and by hand using drawer slides, hinges, handles and other shop goods.
• Secure loads by tying down for safe travel between stops.
• Back into loading docks and tight loading/unloading areas with caution.
• Touch freight during handling and delivery to customers (40–80 lbs).
• Deliver to 4–10 stops daily across CT, Southern NY and MA.
• Use Samsara ELD on company phone for pre-trip inspections and status updates.

Compensation

$2000 Performance Bonus

• $1000 after 90 days (3 months) and $1000 after 180 days (6 months)
• Paid for drivers in good standing with the company
• Consistent on-time arrival to work, good attendance, good attitude, work safety, and work quality are all factored into the evaluation of being in good standing

Duties

• Load truck with sit-down propane forklift and by hand as needed with materials such as drawer slides, hinges, door and cabinetry handles, hand/power tools, sandpaper goods, paint/stain, plywood, cabinetry, synthetic countertop materials, and laminate goods.
• Secure load to truck by tying down to ascertain safe travel between stops
• Must be comfortable backing in towards small dock doors and be confident steering safely around tight loading/unloading areas as needed
• This role requires touching freight!
• Pass goods to customers by hand weighing 40lbs to 80lbs as needed
• Deliver to between 4 and 10 stops daily – State of CT + Southern NY and MA
• 200 daily driving miles depending on assigned routes
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate as needed with management pertaining to customer questions and concerns
• Utilize Samsara Electronic Logging Device (ELD) on company cell phone to perform pre-trip inspections and demonstrate DOT-compliant on‑duty status, etc. in lieu of paper logs. Cameras facing in the cabin towards the driver as well as on the road ahead to protect the company in driver in the event of any incidents.

Requirements

• Must be comfortable wearing a company uniform and protective footwear (composite or steel toe)
• Safe Driving Record (MVR)
• Must have CDL-B or CDL-A
• Must have Valid DOT Med Card (Medical Examiner's Certificate)
• Even though you will drive an automatic, we require our drivers to be able to drive a manual in case Penske (our truck lessor) sends a 10-speed manual transmission during routine maintenance on one of the automatic transmission trucks.
