Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc is hiring a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers and support the selling process in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Starting pay is $31.26 per hour.

Responsibilities include operating tractor-trailer or straight trucks, performing pre-trip inspections, securing freight, documenting shipments, and complying with DOT regulations. Hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements. Automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• Must have one year of experience in the past three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMC regulations under 49 CFR part 391.
• LCV experience in listed states; meet LCV standards.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, and climb in/out of trucks.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, doubles/triples or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies to/from tractors and trailers.
• Handle freight with pallets, straps and rope.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets and other tools.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain records.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs.
• Demonstrate customer service and solicit additional business.
• Provide leads to sales for new opportunities.
• May perform tire chaining or other duties as needed.
• May perform duties of road driver or dock employee as required.
• Comply with laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
