Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements; Automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed.
• Must possess one year experience within most recent three years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 383 and related FMC regulations
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds repeatedly and operate heavy equipment as needed
• Ability to follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays or problems
• Strong customer service skills and ability to solicit additional business from customers

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/triples and straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight with pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and DOT rules.
• Collect freight payments when required and maintain receipts.
• Communicate with customers and dispatch about needs and delays.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service; solicit additional business.
