Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers in Evansville, WY. Start rate is $32.20 per hour. You will operate tractor-trailer combinations, perform pre-trip inspections, secure loads, and support sales with new business opportunities.

The role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat, double/triple endorsements, and the ability to meet DOT regulations. Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 lbs and driving in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements required.
• One year experience within last three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• MVR must meet hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMC regulations 391 requirements.
• LCV qualifications for specified states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT).
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry freight up to 100 lbs several times a week.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples and/or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Move freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges as required.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• Interact with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Solicit additional business and provide leads to sales.
• May perform tire chaining as needed.
• May cover road driver or dock duties as needed.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
