Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc is seeking a CDL-A driver to pick up and deliver freight between Service Centers and customers in Colorado. You will perform pre-trip inspections, handle freight with various equipment, and ensure safe, compliant operations while supporting sales through customer communication.

The role requires a valid CDL-A with hazmat/tank endorsements, DOT/MVR compliance, ability to lift 100 lb, and the capacity to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements. Automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed.
• Must possess one year experience within most recent three years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations
• Long combination vehicles (LCV) qualifications apply in listed states including CO
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples where applicable
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
• Perform freight handling with forklift/pallet jack/hand truck
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets/straps/rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed
• Verify and complete required documentation
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays and problems
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service
• Ask for additional business from customers and provide leads to sales
• May perform chaining of tires; may perform road/dock duties as needed
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies; perform other duties as required
