Job summary

Tenet Healthcare’s DMC Harper University Hospital in Detroit seeks a Team Lead Clinical Documentation to oversee CDIS staff and improve code accuracy and reimbursement. The role partners with physicians and nurses to ensure compliant documentation and optimal pay-for-performance outcomes.

The ideal candidate has leadership experience in clinical documentation, CCDS/RHIA/RHIT or RHIA/CCS credentials, and strong data analytics to drive quality improvements across inpatient coding processes.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing; RN license in Michigan; 3 years acute care nursing experience.
• Two years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist.
• Associates or higher with RHIA/RHIT/CCS credentials; inpatient coding exp.
• Experience leading a department or team in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and implement clinical documentation improvement practices to impact accuracy and reimbursement.
• Coordinate and delegate work of CDIS staff; schedule and evaluate performance.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff and coders to ensure appropriate reimbursement.
• Develop and monitor goals, budgets and policies for clinical documentation.
• Assist in monthly leadership meetings and prepare metrics/scorecards.
• Support in hiring, training and performance management of staff.
• Identify process improvements and implement approved changes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
