Job summary

DMC Harper University Hospital, part of Tenet Healthcare, is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist to ensure accurate documentation, coding practices, and high-quality reimbursement across Detroit Market Adult Hospitals.

Responsibilities include leading CDIS staff, coordinating with physicians and nurses, and driving performance metrics through monthly leadership meetings and chart reviews in a fast-paced health system.

Qualifications

• RN license in Michigan with nursing experience; CCDS preferred or RHIA/RHIT/CCS credentials
• Experience in clinical documentation improvement and coding practices
• Strong leadership and communication to coordinate staff and physicians

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement clinical documentation guidelines to improve accuracy and reimbursement
• Lead and delegate work of CDIS staff; schedule and evaluate competencies
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and coders to ensure proper documentation
• Develop goals, monitor budgets and create CDIS policies and procedures
• Support data collection, CDS activity, and monthly leadership meetings
