Job summary

e4health is seeking a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Consultant to provide timely reviews of patient medical records, ensuring accurate and complete documentation to reflect severity and complexity of illness. You'll educate and interact with providers to ensure documentation reflects the patient’s complexity.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of clinical documentation experience.
• Current RN license.
• CCDS credential required.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate the medical record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent and/or retrospective review of the health record to identify opportunities for documentation clarification and improvement.
• Use clinical expertise and knowledge of coding/regulatory requirements to support complete, accurate, compliant, and clinically supported documentation of the patient’s story.
• Follow all customer established procedures.
• Review medical records for complete and accurate documentation of all relevant diagnoses and procedures.
• Initiate and complete queries as necessary to reflect accurate data regarding the patient’s inpatient or outpatient visit.
• Adhere to guidelines set forth by ACDIS, AAPC, and AHIMA.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information per HIPAA.
• Demonstrate understanding of the business of healthcare: DRG payer issues, audit risks, documentation opportunities, quality metrics, hierarchical condition categories.
• Work with client, colleagues, and management to meet assignment needs in alignment with core values.
• Effectively utilize computer software based on client requirements.
