Job summary

CITGO PETROLEUM CORPORATION is seeking an Engineering Intern for an 11-week summer program in Corpus Christi, TX. You will gain exposure to refinery processes, assist with engineering packs, conduct basic research and maintain engineering records.

A final presentation on the internship experience is required at term end. Ideal candidates are enrolled in Environmental or Chemical Engineering with a 3.0+ GPA, able to work 40 hours weekly, and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an Environmental or Chemical Engineering Bachelor's Degree program
• Full-time Engineering student with at least 30 hours completed (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) or enrolled in a graduate level program
• GPA of 3.0 or above required
• Available to work 40 hours per week with a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

• Monitor process information for compliance with regulatory requirements
• Gather and analyze data for report submittal to agencies
• Collaborate with Automation and Instrumentation Group to resolve issues with process tags and CEMS
• Coordinate cooling tower compliance monitoring and performance testing with operations and contractors
• Work with Environmental Engineers/Advisors and other business units

Job Summary

The Engineering intern will become familiar with the refinery organization and work processes while learning refinery safe work practices. The Engineering Intern will assist with technical services, support the development of engineering packages, conduct basic research, and update engineering records and databases. This position is a paid 11-week summer internship. A presentation covering all aspects of the internship experience and accomplishments will be expected at the end of the term.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an Environmental or Chemical Engineering Bachelor's Degree program
• Full-time Engineering student with at least 30 hours completed (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) or enrolled (at least part-time) in a graduate level program.
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
• Available to work forty hours (40) per week
• Must have current valid driver's license
• Candidate must possess strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility

Job Duties

• Monitor process information for compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in gathering and analyzing data for report submittal to agencies.
• Work with Automation and Instrumentation Group to resolve issues with process tags and continuous emission monitoring systems.
• Assist in coordinating cooling tower compliance monitoring and performance testing for equipment by working with operations and contractors.
• Work closely with Environmental Engineers/Environmental Advisors and other business units.
