CITGO Petroleum Corporation invites applications for a paid 12-week Electrical Engineer intern position. On-site at Lemont, IL or Downers Grove, IL, you will assist with engineering tasks, document updates, and reliability projects under a senior engineer's guidance.

The role includes a final presentation summarizing internship accomplishments. Ideal candidates are enrolled in an Electrical Engineering bachelor's program, sophomores, with a 3.0+ GPA and 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Must be enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering Bachelor's Degree program
• Must be at least a sophomore status in college (completion of freshman year)
• Must have overall GPA of 3.0 or above
• Availability to work forty (40) hours per week for full 12 week program
• Must have valid driver's license
• Candidate must posess strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment
• TWIC Eligibility: Maritime Transportation Security Act requires TWIC for unescorted access to facility. See TSA link for criteria.

Responsibilities

• Generate discipline-related work scopes and complete project documentation updates/review.
• Familiarize with CITGO Engineering practices by editing the engineering training manual and apply as necessary to perform assigned work tasks.
• Assist with the update/creation of equipment reliability and integrity plans.
• Review existing engineering documentation for completeness and consistency with current policies and procedures, including drawings and technical data.
• Complete update to documentation as necessary or assigned.
• Consult with Senior Project Engineers and Managers in the group, and complete site visits in support of ongoing engineering efforts.
• Site visits may include witnessing site activities and scoping/verification for projects.
• Consult with Managers and Senior Project Engineers in the group, and complete site visits in support of ongoing engineering efforts.

• Complete end of internship summary and presentation.

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer intern will provide assistance on various projects for either the Project Engineering or Reliability Department and will become familiar with the refinery organization and work processes while learning refinery safe work practice. The intern will work on various projects throughout the refinery under the direction of a more senior engineer. This position is a paid 12‑week summer internship. A presentation covering all aspects of the internship experience and accomplishments will be expected at the end of the term. Interns will be responsible for providing assistance with various engineering duties which may include: providing technical support for various refinery units, basic engineering research and support for electrical projects, updating engineering records and perform routine engineering.

This position is located on site at either Lemont, Illinois or Downers Grove, Illinois.

Expected Pay Range: $25.50 - $34.00

  • Eligibility Requirements: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration.
