Job summary

Leidos in the United States is seeking a field-focused environmental sampler to perform sampling, laboratory prep, and radiological measurements in both field and controlled lab settings.

This role requires operating PPE, following protocols, and coordinating with agencies and teams; daily travel to field sites is expected. It involves flexible hours, PPE use, and maintaining detailed chain-of-custody documentation for compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Active Secret security clearance (Top Secret preferred).
• Emergency services OR environmental sampling experience, training, and/or education.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule outside standard hours when workload dictates.
• Ability to obtain and maintain PPE qualification for full-face respirator and protective ensemble.
• Ability to routinely lift 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Environmental sampling and collection following established protocols.
• Laboratory analysis including PCR prep and unknown substance assessment.
• Operate radiation detection technologies and ensure accurate measurements.
• Respond with PPE in hazardous environments for decontamination and sampling.
• Maintain records using sample tracking software and chain of custody.
• Manage sampling media, equipment, and supplies; coordinate ordering.
• Communicate with customers, agencies, contractors, and internal teams.
