Job summary

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking a Cattle Manager In-Training to oversee daily cattle operations for a large backgrounding yard and a finishing yard in Kansas. The role emphasizes cattle health, feeding, processing, and supervising a small crew.

Ideal candidate will have strong cattle experience, leadership ability, and willingness to assist with crop production during slower periods. Long-term growth within the operation is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Strong cattle feeding and animal health experience required.
• Backgrounding and/or feedlot management experience preferred.
• Ability to identify, pull, and treat sick cattle.
• Experience processing cattle, administering vaccines, and maintaining health protocols.
• Leadership ability with experience supervising and directing employees.
• Good cattle handling skills and understanding of cattle nutrition and performance.
• Crop production experience or willingness to assist with farming operations required.
• Experience operating farm equipment is a plus.
• Routine maintenance and general equipment repair skills helpful.
• Strong communication skills and positive attitude required.
• Self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible and willing to assist wherever needed during busy seasons.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day cattle operations for a 6,000-head backgrounding yard and a 1,500-head finishing yard.
• Focus on livestock health, feeding, processing, and cattle performance monitoring.
• Supervise a small crew involved with cattle operations.
• Assist with crop production activities during off-peak seasons (planting, harvest, irrigation).
