Job summary

Global Connect Technologies is seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in CATIA V5 to support the management, validation, and release of mechanical design data in a manufacturing environment. The role emphasizes BIW welding fixture design, CAD data integrity, and PLM/data management processes, with collaboration across vendors and manufacturing teams.

You will manage 2D/3D CAD data in CATIA V5, review vendor data, ensure accuracy of BOMs and spare parts, and track revisions

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of experience in engineering data management or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong experience with BIW welding fixture design and detailing.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, BOMs, and spare parts lists.
• Strong understanding of CAD data management, revisions, and engineering releases.
• Knowledge of manufacturing layouts and tooling integration.
• Ability to manage and organize large volumes of engineering data.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Experience with SmartSheet or similar project tracking tools is preferred.
• DELMIA experience is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain 2D/3D CAD data in CATIA V5, including drawings, BOMs, and spare parts lists.
• Review and process BIW welding fixture design data received from vendors.
• Validate 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and spare parts documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage engineering data revisions, releases, and documentation.
• Integrate approved design data into CAD systems, PLM repositories, and client storage systems.
• Track engineering deliverables, revisions, and release status using SmartSheet and other project management tools.
• Support manufacturing layouts and tooling integration activities.
• Coordinate with vendors, designers, manufacturing engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve data issues.
• Ensure engineering data follows required standards and release processes.
