Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center seeks a Cardiovascular Tech RCIS to support invasive cardiovascular procedures under supervision, assist with monitoring and imaging equipment, and ensure sterile technique in the cath lab.

The role requires RCIS or ARRT/TX RT(R) eligibility, ACLS certification, and ongoing credentialing within 18 months. The position emphasizes teaching, patient care, and collaboration with physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in science or healthcare experience is required or commensurate healthcare experience.
• Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
• RCIS certification must be obtained within eighteen (18) months of date of hire.
• ARRT and TX RT(R) eligibility in lieu of RCIS is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assists in teaching and orientation of students and new staff.
• Assists physician as a monitor tech during cath lab procedures by interpreting basic and advanced dysrhythmia and EKGs, operating physiologic recorder, and interpreting pressures and wave forms.
• Assists physician with most procedures as a scrub tech and operates imaging equipment under physician direction.
• Assists with diagnostic procedures as a circulator, monitors patient status, and handles supplies and equipment.
• Assists with transport of patient to and from department.
• Cleans and stocks cath lab; demonstrates knowledge of medications and dosages used.
• Demonstrates procedural knowledge and sterile technique; prepares lab and patient; marks arterial pulses.
• Orders supplies for cath lab and maintains inventory control.
• Post-procedure care including sheath management, hemostasis and patient monitoring.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems.
