Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center seeks a Cardiovascular Tech RCIS to assist with invasive cardiovascular procedures in the cath lab under physician direction. Responsibilities include assisting with procedures as scrub tech, monitor tech duties, equipment operation, and patient transport while maintaining sterile technique.

The role requires degrees in science or healthcare experience, current AHA ACLS certification, RCIS within 18 months, and ARRT/TX RT(R) unless RCIS is held.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree with science emphasis or commensurate healthcare experience.
• Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required or preferred.
• RCIS certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
• ARRT and TX RT(R) qualification acceptable in lieu of RCIS.
• Licenses and/or Certifications required or preferred as stated.

Responsibilities

• Assists in teaching and orientation of students and new staff.
• Acts as a monitor tech during cath lab procedures, interpreting dysrhythmias and EKGs.
• Opens and operates imaging equipment under physician direction.
• Assists with diagnostic procedures as a circulator and monitors patient status.
• Transports patients to and from the department.
• Cleans and stocks cath lab, maintains sterile technique.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications and dosages.
• Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of procedures.
• Orders supplies for cath lab and manages inventory.
• Pre-procedure and post-procedure patient prep and safety tasks.
