Job summary

Hawthorne Cat, Lakeside Shop in Lakeside, CA, is seeking a Machinery Service Technician 1 to repair and rebuild Caterpillar gear in our service shop or on site. You will diagnose issues, replace parts, perform updates, and document work with accuracy, while meeting schedule targets.

The role requires 2–5 years of heavy equipment repair experience, apprenticeship or diesel tech training, and a valid CA driver license. Familiarity with DBS, ServiceLink, and crane operations is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two to five (2-5) years of experience in the repair of Caterpillar products, or other heavy equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of apprenticeship program or graduation from an accredited technical school with emphasis on diesel technology.
• Knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes/rigging equipment.
• Must be able to obtain a passing crane qualification test performed by a Hawthorne trainer.
• Must pass Lock Out / Tag Out & Forklift certification class provided by Hawthorne trainer.
• Must have a valid California Driver’s License with a clean record.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose issues on Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Remove/install parts, disassemble/assemble components, test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Perform Caterpillar updates as directed by Caterpillar.
• Organize jobs in a logical, economical sequence.
• Enter labor time daily in DBS and write daily service reports.
