Job Overview

As a Catering Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing, soliciting, detailing, and maintaining accounts within assigned market segments. Your goal is to meet or exceed budget goals and quotas by managing all aspects of booking meetings and catering functions, including proposals, contracts, and Banquet Event Orders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required.
2. Assist the Director of Catering and/or Director of Sales and Marketing to ensure compliance with all operational procedures.
3. Maintain knowledge of and ensure adherence to all hotel policies and procedures.
4. Meet with clients to plan functions, escort them through the property, and highlight features and services.
5. Suggest menus that meet client needs and maximize revenue.
6. Welcome clients upon arrival and ensure guest satisfaction.
7. Follow up with clients after events to ensure satisfaction and solicit re-bookings.
8. Actively solicit and book new business following hotel standards.
9. Attend meetings, menu and wine tastings, and stay informed of market trends and competitors.
10. Project a professional image and maintain effective relations with other departments to ensure excellent guest service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in Sales, Catering, or Convention Services.
• Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
• Knowledge of sales tools, room setup styles, and event planning.
• Previous hospitality or food service training preferred.
• Knowledge of local activities and attractions is advantageous.
