Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Catering Prep Chef/Driver to join our catering team. This full-time role supports event logistics, food preparation, and delivery operations to ensure seamless service.

You will operate the catering box truck, coordinate pickups and deliveries, assist culinary and front-of-house teams, and maintain vehicle schedules with safety and accuracy. The schedule varies, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and late nights.

Qualifications

• 8th grade education and 3 years of driving with the ability to drive a box truck.
• Ability to read, write, weigh and measure necessary.
• Flexibility, reliability, ability to communicate and be a team player essential.
• Accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent customer service skills, oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate the catering box truck or other University vehicles in all weather conditions.
• Oversee and execute pickup, drop off and delivery of food, materials and equipment for events.
• Support culinary and front of house teams with operational assistance, including food prep, dishwashing, event setup, teardown and cleanup.
• Ensure the catering vehicles follow proper maintenance schedules per University protocols.
• Demonstrate customer service focus with time management and high attention to detail.
