Job Description

Are you an experienced Catering Manager with a passion for catering and working with the public? Are you looking for an exciting and challenging new position?

Perkins Management Service Company is seeking a high-energy, experienced catering manager to oversee the catering department at our client site, Johnson C. Smith.

The successful candidate will have a proven background in catering and presentation, with exceptional customer service skills. The Catering Manager will be responsible for supervising and supporting the planning of catering events of varying sizes, ensuring all Perkins higher education catering brand standards and initiatives are consistently met.

The ideal candidate will organize and execute all catering events, with knowledge of casual and fine dining, banquet management, and culinary skills. Experience in high-volume activity, employee/staff training, labor management, and control systems is required.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Developing and maintaining a safety culture that promotes a safe work environment.
2. Supervising catering operations, including staff coordination, equipment setup, food and beverage service, and event breakdown.
3. Assisting with event bookings, menu selection, costing, and pricing.
4. Managing hiring, discipline, performance reviews, and pay increases for staff.
5. Coordinating with internal departments, participating in management meetings, and interfacing with vendors and clients.
6. Representing Perkins and the client at meetings and events.
7. Ensuring sanitation, organization, and safety standards are met through checklists and supervision.
8. Preparing banquet rooms for functions.
9. Maintaining professional appearance and excellent customer service.
10. Serving meals and beverages according to protocol.
11. Setting tables for special functions.
12. Loading and unloading event equipment safely.
13. Maintaining storage areas and catering supplies.
14. Participating in and helping develop catering training programs.

Minimum of 3+ years catering experience required.
