Job summary

Country Club of Detroit is seeking a Catering Coordinator to enhance Member experiences by planning meetings, banquets, and special events. You will coordinate events like weddings and club activities, working closely with various departments to ensure exceptional service.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Business, three years of relevant experience, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Suite is required. The position may require flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Business or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in Events or Food & Beverage Service Industry, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite required.
  • Knowledge of Jonas Software, preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage etiquette and service standards required.
  • Oral and written communication skills required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills required.
  • Basic mathematical skills to complete reports and calculate event charges.

Job description

Overview

A Catering Coordinator performs a variety of tasks to heighten our Member’s experience at our prestigious Platinum Club. The Catering Coordinator is responsible for planning meetings, banquets and special events for Members and sponsored guests as well as assisting the Catering Director on day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities
  • Coordination of multi-faceted events such as Member Weddings, Club Events (i.e. Tennis, Bowling, Swim, Day Camp, Golf and Bridge), Bridal Showers, Baby Showers, etc.
  • Collaboration with different department heads, Members, Committees, and teams to create exceptional and “best in the area” events
  • Development of menus, contracts, arrangements, and letters in association with social and corporate events
  • Preparation of accurate, detailed, and consistent Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and room diagrams pertinent to each planned event and in accordance to the distribution schedule established for the departments.
  • Supervision and assistance of event order specifications
  • Ability to adapt to constant changes and ability to respond accordingly and swiftly
  • Creation and presentation of weekly and monthly catering reports, as needed
  • Knowledge of relevant industry trends (e.g. catering, wedding planning, party planning, specialty events, etc.)
  • Collaboration with Catering Director to create new ideas, learning opportunities, creativity, etc.
  • Ability to understand and implement Club rules
  • Assist accounting staff in execution of correct client billing
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Business or related field, preferred
  • Minimum three years of experience in Events or Food & Beverage Service Industry, preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite required
  • Knowledge of Jonas Software, preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage etiquette, guest relations and service standards required
  • Oral and written communication skills required
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills required
  • Basic mathematical skills to complete reports, calculate estimated event charges, determine deposits due and establish minimum revenue requirements
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club such as weekends, nights, and holidays
