12Th Street Catering is seeking a passionate Bakery Employee to join our catering team. You will assist in preparing, baking, and packaging a variety of high-quality baked goods for events and corporate clients, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and consistency.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen, and flexibility to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Reports to the Bakery department at our Philadelphia facility.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a commercial bakery, pastry kitchen, or catering setting preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic baking techniques and kitchen tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, bake, and finish a wide range of items including cakes, cookies, tarts, croissants, breads, and specialty desserts.
• Follow standard recipes and production schedules with precision.
• Assist in creating custom desserts for catered events or special orders.
• Portion, label, and package pastries and baked goods for delivery and off-site catering.
• Organize and load items for transport, ensuring presentation and freshness.
• Collaborate with the catering team on order requirements and special requests.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery and kitchen prep areas.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including proper food storage and sanitation practices.
• Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies; report shortages or issues to management.
• Communicate effectively with chefs, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team members.
• Help with dishwashing, kitchen cleanup, and restocking as needed.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a collaborative team environment.
