Job description

Work Hours

The work hours for this position are approximately Mon-Fri, 6:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Key Purpose

Deliver and set up catered foods and other foodstuffs as required in a visually appealing and timely manner to Guckenheimer and client standards. Make deliveries on campus to the correct location at the designated time. Set up catered meals, attractively arranging them with all required utensils and condiments.

Ideal Candidate Experience

• Must be able to use standard kitchen equipment correctly and safely, including chefs' knives, convection ovens, meat and cheese slicing machines, steamers, mandolins, grills, and broilers.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for food preparation.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in catering and/or events.
• Knowledge of standard catering presentation techniques.
• Ability to use basic computer programs for data input and organization, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Possess current SERV Safe or Food Handler certification or the ability to obtain it immediately after hiring.
• Must possess a valid driver's license (some locations).

Key Accountabilities

• Organize, deliver, and set up catered foods and other foodstuffs on time, including décor, garnishes, equipment, utensils, and condiments.
• Read and organize delivery schedules to ensure punctuality.
• Correctly and safely use standard catering equipment such as chef knives, carts, chafing dishes, sterno, lift gates, and risers.
• Implement standard catering presentation techniques, maintain quality control, and adhere to HACCP program requirements.
• Follow all safety rules and actively prevent accidents.
• Uphold the service values and ethics of the client company.
• Assist other catering employees during emergencies or busy periods.
• Accept feedback and work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Work on their feet for 8 hours per day, excluding breaks.
• Work under pressure and meet deadlines during peak periods.
• Use a computer keyboard for up to 2 hours continuously.
• Deliver hot and cold food on campus using carts and vans.
• Use proper lifting techniques when handling stock.
• Load and push carts a short distance.
