The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a per diem Food Service Associate to prepare and serve foods in a patient-centered, fast-paced environment at 75 Francis Street.

You will rinse, chop, portion, and present meals, while maintaining safety, hygiene, and customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of related food service experience required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write; follow safety procedures; lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare/serve foods and beverages in one or more food service environments.
  • Rinse, peel, slice, and dice fruit and vegetables.
  • Weigh, measure ingredients; wrap, label, and store items.
  • Clean and organize work areas, equipment, and service station.
  • Follow recipes and serving temperature guidelines; ensure portion control.
  • Assist customers with information on ingredients, availability, and pricing; escalate concerns.

Job Summary

Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving foods and beverages in one or more of a variety of food service environments.

Functions

Performs preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing fruit and vegetables.

  • Weighs and measures ingredients.
  • Wraps, date-labels, and stores food items.
  • Cleans and organizes work areas, equipment, utensils, and service station.
  • Follows established recipes to prepare menu items.
  • Follows guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control.
  • Serves customers in a fast, efficient, and friendly manner.
  • Provides customers with information regarding food ingredients, availability, and pricing.
  • Escalates customer concerns and complaints to management.
  • Complies with relevant safety, hygiene, and service standards and procedures.
Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Experience experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of role 2-3 years required Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements.
  • Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards'.
