Job summary

Montefiore Health System in New York seeks a Category Manager Medical Surgical to lead end-to-end sourcing and contracting for clinical categories. You will drive supplier negotiations, vendor management and market analyses to achieve cost savings and value for clinicians and associates.

You will coordinate with Supply Chain and Clinical departments to optimize distribution contracts and performance, building strategic sourcing plans and executing complex procurements.

Qualifications

• BS in Science or Business Administration required; Masters preferred.
• 4+ years of contract management or hospital supply chain distribution experience.
• Experience with ERP, contract management software and inventory systems.
• Healthcare spend contract management and GPO utilization knowledge.
• Strong cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market and supplier research.
• Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with GHX/EDI.

The Category Manager Medical Surgical position requires an experienced sourcing professional with a background in clinical materials and services contracting with superior analytic and problem-solving skills supporting a fast-paced, transformation-oriented work environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in contract spend areas such as, but not limited to, medical-surgical products, respiratory, critical care, nursing and procedural supplies, pediatrics, and clinical capital purchasing acquisitions.

This position will be the primary point of contact for all issues related to medical surgical distribution, and distribution contracting at the GPO and local level. The Category Manager will work across all Supply Chain and Clinical departments to ensure appropriate performance and value from Montefiore’s contracted medical surgical distribution partner and direct vendors.

This position is responsible for the end-to-end process of source-to-contract for a clinical category(s) within a health care setting utilizing sourcing best practices. The Category Manager will develop sourcing strategies in collaboration with stakeholders that achieve cost, quality, and outcomes.

The Category Manager will be responsible for identifying initiatives, developing market/spend analysis, benchmarking comparisons, and competitive procurement documents (RFP/RFI). This position will lead supplier negotiations, contract development/management, vendor management, and the identification/realization of savings opportunities. The ideal candidate is skilled at creating presentations and presenting/discussing complex Supply Chain initiatives to all levels of leadership.

Qualifications

• BS Science or Business Administration Degree Required - Masters Preferred
• 4+ Years of Contract Management and/or Hospital Supply Chain Management Distribution experience within Medical Surgical, inpatient, or ambulatory settings Required
