The Category Manager position requires an experienced sourcing professional with a background in clinical materials and services contracting, supporting a fast-paced, transformation-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

The Category Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end source-to-contract process for clinical categories, developing sourcing strategies, identifying savings opportunities, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and reporting performance.

• Analyze business needs and document functional and technical requirements.
• Develop communications strategy and establish a communication plan.
• Investigate, analyze, and evaluate feasibility of sourcing initiatives.
• Prepare routine status reports and present information to leadership.
• Ensure adherence to protocols, procedures, and project plans.
• Set departmental goals and measure success.
• Maintain documentation and communications.
• Support operational and strategic business activities through research and analysis.
• Develop and manage best-practice tools for performance improvement.
• Coordinate and manage multiple projects across the health system.
• Provide operational support for problem identification and resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Business Administration (required).
• Master’s degree in Business Administration or Health Administration (preferred).
• Minimum of three years’ contract management experience focusing on clinical supply and equipment spend.
• Knowledge of supply chain management, medical/surgical distribution, healthcare spend contract management, and GPO utilization.
• Experience with ERP, contract management software, inventory systems.
• Knowledgeable in accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market and supplier research.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and other standard computer programs.
• Excellent planning, critical thinking, and communication skills.

• Possess knowledge in strategic sourcing, project management, systems, and procedures.
• Experience creating RFP/RFI documents and driving the solicitation process.
• Experience in contracting, vendor management, analysis creation, and cross-department consensus building.

• Strong presentation and discussion skills with leadership.
