Job description

Live Auctioneers is looking for a Category Growth Manager to lead the next chapter of our Fine & Decorative Arts categories. Our goal is ambitious: to rebuild, elevate, and optimize our key categories into a destination for discerning buyers and a place where talented sellers thrive.

In this role, you'll turn buyer demand into qualified supply. You'll find where the categories have gaps, bring in the right sellers and inventory to fill them, and work with partners across the business to grow sales. You'll pair a strong eye for art and design with sharp commercial instincts, and you'll be just as comfortable reading a dashboard as evaluating a collection.

What You'll Do
  • Drive strategic category growth by translating buyer demand signals into clear, actionable supply opportunities.
  • Identify white space in the assortment and source key leads, including artists, galleries, makers, and sellers who can raise the quality and breadth of our offering.
  • Partner with sellers on strategies to expand their inventory, optimize their assortments, and grow their sales on our platform.
  • Conduct pricing analysis to make sure the category is competitive, well positioned, and aligned with our strategic direction.
  • Lead calendar analysis and planning, anticipating seasonal trends, key selling moments, and promotional windows.
  • Develop and execute marketing initiatives in partnership with Marketing, Merchandising, and Creative teams to build category visibility and demand.
  • Use website metrics, tools, and levers to understand bidder behavior, spot opportunities, and recommend changes that improve discovery, conversion, and customer experience.
  • Act as a cross-functional leader, aligning teams around a shared vision for the category and moving initiatives from strategy to execution.
  • Bring a strong point of view on taste and quality, helping define and uphold the standard for what belongs in an elevated assortment.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive analysis, tracking other marketplaces, retailers, and galleries, and turn those insights into clear recommendations for assortment, pricing, and positioning.
What You'll Bring
  • 5-7 years in auctions, category management, merchandising, or business development
  • A background in fine or decorative arts industries, or home decor, whether in retail, e-commerce, galleries, marketplaces, or a related field. An Art History background or related Master of Arts (MA) is nice to have, but not required.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to analyze complex numbers and data and a track record of growing a category, business line, or seller base.
  • A refined taste level and a genuine understanding of the art and decor landscape, including artists, trends, and what resonates with a breadth of customer cohorts. You balance the numbers with instinct, trusting your gut, taste, and aesthetic judgment, and you have a proven ability to predict emerging aesthetic trends.
  • Strong analytical skills, including competitive analysis and insight generation, with comfort working in data to guide decisions on pricing, assortment, and performance. Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and a strong reporting sense.
  • A solid understanding of e-commerce site metrics, tools, and functionality, and how they influence buyer and shopper behavior.
  • The ability to execute: you can develop a strategy, build the plan, and see it through.
  • Proven cross-functional leadership, with the ability to influence and collaborate without direct authority. You can clearly communicate both your analysis and your strategy to gain buy-in from leadership.
  • Experience working with dealers, sellers, or vendors, with a strong understanding of negotiation tactics and relationship building.
Why Join Us

This is a rare chance to shape the category from the ground up. As a new role on a brand-new team, you'll have the opportunity to define it while building out our art program. You will have the ownership and visibility to establish key functions and strategies, supported by a team energized and excited to bring this vision to life.
