Job summary

Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits seeks a Sr. Analyst, Category Development to provide strategic insights and data-driven recommendations across our category.

The role partners with Sales, Marketing, and Retail teams to optimize assortment, pricing, promotions, and selling stories for the Pacific Northwest and western US chains, with up to 20% travel. The position requires 2-5 years of category management experience, proficiency with syndicated data, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years category management experience in CPG/Category Analyst role with syndicated research.
• Proactive self-starter with ownership of projects and delivery.
• Location in Western time zone, AZ/NV/WA/OR preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Expert in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Experience with Circana/Nielsen/Numerator data preferred.
• Experience with regional/national Grocery or Club retailers preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, math and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to tell compelling, data-driven selling stories.
• Willing to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales, attend calls and market visits to identify opportunities from planning through execution.
• Analyze monthly performance to surface risks and opportunities early.
• Lead stakeholder conversations with proactive guidance and recommendations.
• Optimize assortment, pricing, and promotions for Pacific Northwest and western US (excl CA) retail chains.
• Build quantifiable selling stories using syndicated, store-level, panel and primary/secondary data.
• Prepare regular reports on category performance, market trends, KPIs and insights for leadership.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to align on selling stories and GTM strategies.
• Develop bottom-up annual plans with Sales and forecast based on trends and risks.
