Job summary

AVP•SEES Group in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a clinically excellent cataract and anterior segment surgeon to join a medically focused, referral-driven ophthalmology practice. This role emphasizes high-quality outcomes, sound surgical judgment, and collaboration with optometrists and the broader medical community.

Fellowship in cornea, glaucoma, or anterior segment is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate demonstrates professional decision-making, strong communication, and a commitment

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency program.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology.
• Active Tennessee medical license, or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date.
• DEA registration and unrestricted authority to prescribe medications.
• Demonstrated expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases and disorders.
• Strong clinical and surgical judgment with a patient-centered approach to care.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with optometrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-volume cataract and anterior segment surgery including MIGS and laser procedures.
• Manage patients with coexisting ocular disease, including glaucoma and ocular surface disease.
• Apply evidence-based surgical techniques with appropriate adoption of advancing technologies.
