Job summary

North Alabama Shoals Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a PRN Cat Scan Technician (CT) to provide high-quality CT imaging and support radiology services. You will review orders, educate patients, position patients, and ensure patient safety.

The role requires a two-year certificate or higher, current Radiation Operator Certificate, ARRT in Radiology and CT, and on-call availability within 30 minutes. BLS is required.

Qualifications

  • Two-year certificate, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree is required.
  • Current Radiation Operator Certificate; ARRT in Radiology and CT; BLS required.
  • On-call availability within 30 minutes.
  • Experience in CT imaging and patient care in imaging department preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician orders.
  • Educates patients on procedures, equipment, and exams.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition and responds to changes.
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.

Cat Scan Technician (CT)

Position Summary

Provides computed tomography (CT) imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director of Radiology and/or Supervisor.

Essential Functions
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patients on procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition and responds to changes appropriately.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies; implements safety standards and performs quality control checks.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.
  • Analyzes imaging results, identifies quality issues, and takes corrective action, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures if needed.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.

Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.

Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present.

Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

On-Call Requirement: Must accept on-call assignments for scheduled shifts and be available to report to the facility within 30 minutes of notification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education
  • Two-year certificate, Associate's degree, or Baccalaureate degree.
License / Certifications
  • Current Radiation Operator Certificate in state of practice; registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology and Computed Tomography; BLS required.
