Job summary

Los Alamos Medical Center is seeking a Cat Scan (CT) Technician for a PRN, as-needed schedule. The role requires a current NM Radiologic Technologist license and graduation from an ARRT/JRCERT/ARMRIT/NMTCB accredited program, with a preference for an associate's degree.

Qualifications

• Current NM Radiologic Technologist license.
• Graduate of ARRT, JRCERT, ARMRIT or NMTCB accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Radiation Therapy, MR or Nuclear Medicine.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• ARRT CT registry required within 1 year of hire/transfer; may work under supervision until CT registry is obtained.
• BLS certification current upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with image quality.
• Takes action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning and repeating procedures.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

Education

NM Radiologic Technologist license (current)

ARRT/JRCERT/ARMRIT/NMTCB accredited program in Radiologic Technology or related field

Associate's degree preferred

ARRT CT registry required within 1 year of hire

How you'll contribute

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current NM Radiologic Technologist license and be a graduate of an ARRT, JRCERT, ARMRIT, or NMTCB accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Radiation Therapy, MR, or Nuclear Medicine required with an associate's degree preferred. Additional requirements include:

• Certification/License:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) current upon hire.
  • ARRT, JRCERT, ARMRIT, or NMTCB registry in Radiology, Radiation Therapy, MR, or Nuclear Medicine Registry required.
  • ARRT Registry in Computed Tomography (CT) required (within 1 year hire/transfer).
    • If not ARRT(CT) upon hire, you must work under the supervision of an ARRT(CT) technologist until your ARRT(CT) is obtained.
