Job summary

Los Alamos Medical Center in Los Alamos, NM is seeking a Cat Scan (CT) Technician for a PRN, as-needed role. You will review patient history and orders, educate patients about procedures, prepare and administer contrast media, monitor patient status, and perform imaging with a focus on quality.

Applicants must hold a NM Radiologic Technologist license and be a graduate of an ARRT/JRCERT/ARMRIT/NMTCB accredited program with an associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• NM Radiologic Technologist license current upon hire.
• Graduate of an ARRT, JRCERT, ARMRIT, or NMTCB accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Radiation Therapy, MR, or Nuclear Medicine.
• ARRT CT Registry required within 1 year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) current upon hire.
• If not ARRT(CT) upon hire, must work under supervision until ARRT(CT) is obtained.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes in status.
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Implements safety standards and performs quality control on equipment.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions as needed.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
• Analyzes results and addresses image quality issues.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

How You'll Contribute

A Cat Scan (CT) Technician who excels in this role:

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current NM Radiologic Technologist license and be a graduate of an ARRT, JRCERT, ARMRIT, or NMTCB accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Radiation Therapy, MR, or Nuclear Medicine required with an associate's degree preferred. Additional requirements include:

• Certification/License:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) current upon hire.
  • ARRT, JRCERT, ARMRIT, or NMTCB registry in Radiology, Radiation Therapy, MR, or Nuclear Medicine Registry required.
  • ARRT Registry in Computed Tomography (CT) required (within 1 year hire/transfer).
  • If not ARRT(CT) upon hire, you must work under the supervision of an ARRT(CT) technologist until your ARRT(CT) is obtained.
