Ideal candidates hold AMA-approved radiologic technology training, ARRT registration, CT certification, NJ license, and prior CT experience. This is a full-time night shift with 4x10 hour shifts from 10P to 8A. Safety and patient comfort are prioritized.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.
  • CT Certification
  • NJ License required.
  • Previous CT experience required.
  • Maintains required BLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients and administer contrast dye as directed.
  • Operate CT imaging equipment with precision and ensure radiation safety.
  • Assist Radiologist and mark images with time and body position.
  • Maintain patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.
  • Ensure rooms are stocked and ready for procedures.
  • Accurately use the Radiology Information System to manage cases.

Cat Scan Technician

At RWJBarnabas Health, the Cat Scan Technician plays a critical role in patient care and diagnostics. Operating under the supervision of a board-certified radiologist, they work with a high level of independence. They are responsible for preparing patients, administering contrast dye, ensuring radiation safety, and delivering high-quality diagnostic images.

A typical day for a Cat Scan Technician may include:
  • Analyzes patient physical condition, age and suspected pathology for proper technique
  • Assists Radiologist in performing certain radiographic procedures
  • Correctly marks images with time and body position
  • Ensures patient comfort, physical and mental well being during the examination
  • Ensures that room is properly stocked with all needed supplies prior to the beginning of the procedure
  • Explains procedures, keeps patient informed of progress and assists patients in transferring on to/off examination table for procedures
  • Observes equipment for proper functioning and reports malfunctions to supervisor
  • Properly prepares room before patient enters and cleans it after patient exits
  • Properly uses the Radiology Information System to arrive, change if necessary and complete cases
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patients age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
