The role is union and requires graduation from AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology, ARRT CT certification, NJ license, and CT experience. BLS certification is also required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze patient condition, age and pathology to determine technique.
• Assist Radiologist in radiographic procedures.
• Correctly mark images with time and body position.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety during examinations.
• Prepare room and stock supplies before procedures.
• Explain procedures to patients and monitor progress during exams.
• Monitor equipment for proper function and report malfunctions.
• Prepare and clean the room between patients.
• Use RIS to arrive, change, and complete cases.
• Adapt care to patient age and development needs.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

At RWJBarnabas Health, the CT Technologist plays a critical role in patient care and diagnostics. Operating under the supervision of a board-certified radiologist, they work with a high level of independence. They are responsible for preparing patients, administering contrast dye, ensuring radiation safety, and delivering high-quality diagnostic images. This is a Union position.

A typical day for a CT Technologist may include:

• Analyzes patient physical condition, age and suspected pathology for proper technique
• Assists Radiologist in performing certain radiographic procedures
• Correctly marks images with time and body position
• Ensures patient comfort, physical and mental well being during the examination
• Ensures that room is properly stocked with all needed supplies prior to the beginning of the procedure
• Explains procedures, keeps patient informed of progress and assists patients in transferring on to/off examination table for procedures
• Observes equipment for proper functioning and reports malfunctions to supervisor
• Properly prepares room before patient enters and cleans it after patient exits
• Properly uses the Radiology Information System to arrive, change if necessary and complete cases
• Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patients age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
