Job summary

UPMC Bedford in Pennsylvania is recruiting a nursing student for a casual Patient Care Technician role in the Emergency Department. The position offers a flexible schedule, typically around 36 hours every six weeks, to fit school commitments.

As a PCT, you will support nursing staff with activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, transport, and basic treatments under supervision, helping patients recover and experience a positive hospital stay.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admission, transport and basic patient care activities.
• Performs ADLs such as bathing, feeding, toileting, and mobility under supervision.
• Supports with point-of-care testing and vital signs.
• Documents care and communicates changes to the RN.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness in the unit.
• Preserves professionalism and teamwork with nurses and staff.
• Participates in department quality and safety initiatives.
• May assist with more advanced skills as needed (phlebotomy, IVs, EKG) per department needs.
