Job summary

UPMC Bedford is hiring a Casual Professional Staff Nurse to support the Emergency Department. This position will work a minimum of three 12-hour shifts per 6-week schedule, with variable day and night shifts based on department needs.

Must have at least 1 year RN experience to qualify for a casual role and be able to provide high-quality patient care across the patient age spectrum as outlined in department policy. Participates in ongoing education, shared governance, and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year RN experience to qualify for a casual role.
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department RN experience required.
• Ability to work a minimum of three 12-hour shifts per 6-week schedule, with variable day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care using the nursing process and Relationship-Based Care to develop and implement individualized plans of care.
• Assess, monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective care.
• Deliver patient and family education to support understanding of care, recovery, and transition to the next level of care or home.
• Foster a compassionate, patient-centered experience by building positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Serve as a resource, mentor, or preceptor for students, new staff, and team members, supporting professional growth and knowledge development.
• Maintain productive working relationships through professionalism, accountability, effective communication, and respect for diverse perspectives.
