Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a Grinding/Inspection Technician in the Structurals division. You will review inspection paperwork, grind and blend defect areas on castings, and ensure welds meet blueprint tolerances.

Responsibilities include verifying dimensional compliance with micrometers and calipers, performing penetrant inspections, and maintaining logs. Training is provided; Safety rules apply.

Qualifications

• Grinding skills and working knowledge of grinding tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing 30 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow specifications on Tech Cards and Process Control Procedures.
• Basic ability to follow instructions, read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to use and read dimensional tools including calipers, gauges and micrometers.
• Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Grinding: review inspection paperwork and grind and blend defect areas on castings; blend welds to blueprint tolerances.
• Inspection: verify dimensional compliance using micrometers, calipers, ultrasonic testing and similar devices; perform penetrant inspection tests; complete logs.
• Safety: adhere to plant and department safety rules; safely operate all equipment and tools; report safety problems.
• Performs other tasks as directed.
