Job summary

Chicago Magnesium Casting Co. is seeking a Weld Operator to weld repair aerospace magnesium parts and aluminum sand castings. The role involves 20–30 hours of actual welding time per week, plus prepping parts to be welded and performing various duties within Chicago Magnesium.

The candidate will review materials, document production data, may machine castings for weld plugs, and ensure safety and cleanliness in the work area. Equal employment opportunity applies.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of TIG welding experience preferred.
• Must read and understand procedures for tasks.
• Requires basic math skills and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Review and inspect all materials used, building self-inspection into processes.
• Complete, date and sign-off on routing information; apply weld stamp where applicable; input required production data/reporting.
• May machine and prepare castings for weld plugs and plug castings.
• Machine excess stock from castings with milling machine.
• Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
• Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and reporting of processed quantities.
• Report problems or discrepancies to management.

Summary

Weld operator to weld repair aerospace magnesium parts and aluminum sand castings. Actual welding time will encompass approximately 20 – 30 hours per week. This job also requires the prepping of parts to be welded, welding and various other duties within Chicago Magnesium.
