Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Lexington, KY seeks an Orthopedic Technician to assist physicians with casting, traction, and Ilizarov devices. You will inform patients and families, monitor supplies, and support the orthopedic team under supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon.

Strong communication, patient care skills, and a willingness to maintain competency are essential. High school diploma or GED required; 1+ years of orthopedic technician experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Preferred: 1+ years Orthopedic Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of an Orthopedic Technician.
• Performs casting, traction and Ilizarov services under the direction and supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon.
• Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention.
• Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal patient care.
