Informs patients/families, staff and students about the use and care of casts and traction devices. Shriners Portland is looking for a full time Cast Tech to join the team!**Key Responsibilities:*** Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an Orthopedic Technician and the Outpatient Clinic (OPC) standards of care.* Performs casting and traction services under the direction and supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon* Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention. Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal patient care* Prepares patient for application of orthopedic devices, removes plaster/fiberglass as ordered by the physician.* Demonstrates competency in the application, removal, maintenance, modifications of cast, splints and traction.**Required Qualifications:*** High School Diploma/GED* Orthopedic Cast Technician Program* Basic Life Support (BLS)**Preferred Qualifications:*** Certificate Medical Assistant* 1 year Orthopedic Technician* 1 year related work experienceThe pay range for this position is $19.97 - $29.95.
