Job summary

Howard University is seeking a detail-oriented Cashier Analyst to support university cashiering, student accounts, and third-party operations through payment processing oversight, deposits, reconciliations, and daily financial reporting.

This role partners with Bursar leadership and campus offices to strengthen internal controls, resolve payment discrepancies, and enhance service to students and departments while supporting audits and Workday Student Financials after the system implementation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
3–5 years accounting or cashiering experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data.
Experience with cash handling and payment processing preferred.

Responsibilities

Monitor daily cashiering and payment activity; identify exceptions and reconcile sessions.
Post student and departmental payments across multiple tender types; ensure accuracy.
Prepare and distribute reports on cashier activity, deposits, reconciliations, and compliance metrics.
Support audits by providing documentation, research findings, and transaction details.
Collaborate with campus offices to resolve discrepancies and strengthen internal controls.
