Job description

Job Responsibilities:

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including inviting customers to check out. NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting; always wait until relieved.
2. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy and store productivity standards. Ensure items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
3. Receive and be accountable for all funds collected during transactions.
4. Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
5. Keep the work station and surrounding area neat and clean.
6. Know and follow all applicable laws regarding beer, wine, WIC handling, coupons, check cashing, and tendering procedures.
7. Follow policies for Debit Card, Credit Card, Gift Card, EBT Cash, and EBT Food Stamp transactions.
8. Use assigned tills properly and responsibly.
9. Take weekly produce tests.
10. Ensure all not-on-file items are recorded and submitted daily.
11. Follow proper procedures for obtaining change.
12. Use the intercom properly.
13. Avoid conversations with other associates while checking out orders.
14. Understand and explain the ValuCard program.
15. Assist with light stocking duties (candy, cigarettes).
16. Sweep the front end area.
17. Replace misplaced items to their proper locations.
18. Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
