Job summary

Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN is seeking an Admitting Clerk at the Emergency Room front desk for PRN coverage. You will greet patients, verify demographics, and create electronic patient files, scheduling and intake tasks.

This role includes collecting co-pays, handling payments, coordinating with financial services, and supporting a high-quality, confidential patient experience. Shift options include day, afternoon, and overnight with potential differential, and opportunities to advance.

Qualifications

• Must have at least one year of applicable experience.
• Computer skills sufficient to access and enter data and create documents.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients/residents, verifies patient demographics to accurately register and/or schedule patients/residents, and takes care of related paperwork.
• Establishes and assigns financial responsibility and/or assists with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures.
• Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and/or payments on account balances.
• Operates multi-line telephones and depending on location, may serve as a switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers.
• May also work through the registration work queue to address and resolve issues specific to registration, including work queue errors, denied insurance claims, and maintenance of the registration database.

Join our dedicated Admitting team at the Emergency Room front desk! This PRN position gives you the opportunity to decide when you want to work and when you are unavailable. PRN positions assist with covering PTO request, FMLA leaves and sick calls. This position could cover day shift, afternoons and/or overnights with afternoon and overnight shifts receiving a shift differential. Current staff are given priority for open positions, allowing opportunities to advance into more desirable schedules or a full time position in the future. Job Summary

Greets patients/residents, verifies patient demographics to accurately register and/or schedule patients/residents, and takes care of related paperwork. Creates electronic patient files; provides, scans, and routes necessary patient forms and documents. Educates patients/residents and captures patient signatures on necessary paperwork. Establishes and assigns financial responsibility and/or assists with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures. Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and/or payments on account balances. May also work through the registration work queue to address and resolve issues specific to registration, including work queue errors, denied insurance claims, and maintenance of the registration database.

Operates multi-line telephones and depending on location, may serve as a switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers.

Additional duties may include preparation and coordination of charts; organizing supporting provider documents; discussing pre-payment responsibilities; initiation of patient financial assistance; prior authorization; track patient visits; collaborating with patient financial services and health information management on patient accounts; work on weekly and monthly reports; compiling, distributing, administering and scoring of assessments; coordination of Telemed appointments; provider and schedule maintenance; charge entry/billing and charge verification; reminder calls for appointments; hospital admission; make copies, send faxes, and order supplies. Displays professionalism and promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. Must be able to work as part of a team and also work independently.

Frequently takes direction from nursing team, stepping in to aid with Code Blue situations. Must always maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Requires excellent customer service and the ability to empathize with patients/residents and their situations. Working knowledge of medical terminology and use of professional written communication when making notes. Performs other duties as assigned.
