Sanford Health in Worthington, MN is seeking aPatient Access Representative for the ER Switchboard, 5pm-12am. This part-time role supports a welcoming, safe environment and handles registration, scheduling, and payments across clinic and phone interactions.

The position offers a 8-hour evening shift with a 15 weekly hour commitment. Salary range $16.25-$23.00 per hour. Union position is included, with comprehensive benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential.
• Six months' customer service experience desired.
• May require BLS for certain locations/settings.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographics.
• Create, scan and route documents or electronic forms.
• Inform patients what the document is and capture signatures.
• Establishes financial responsibility and assists with arrangements.
• Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances.
• Address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims.
• Coordinate & schedule appointments with nursing team and providers.
• Obtain and coordinate referrals and conduct pre-authorization.
• Arrange interpreter services.
• Check patients in/out.
• Operate multi-line phone.
• Resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, paging providers.
• Prepare and coordinate charts.
• Organize supporting provider documents.
• Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance.
• Track patient visits and health information on patient accounts.
• Coordinate Telemed appointments.
• Reminder calls for appointments.
• Hospital admission.
• Office duties such as copies or faxes.

Job Summary

Join our Sanford Patient Access Family and Grow the Good! As a Patient Access Representative, your primary responsibility will be providing extraordinary customer service to patients with every interaction. With being the first point of contact, you will have the opportunity to provide a positive patient experience by creating a welcoming and safe environment, either on the phone or in the clinic.

REGISTRATION

• Greet patients & verifies demographics
• Creating, scanning & routing documents or electronic forms
• Inform patients what the document is & capture signatures on necessary paperwork
• Establishes and assigns financial responsibility and assists with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures
• Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances
• May work through the registration work queue to address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims

SCHEDULING

• Work with nursing team & providers to coordinate & schedule appointments to meet patient’s needs, coordinate provider schedule
• Obtain and coordinate referrals & conduct pre-authorization
• Arrange interpreter services
• Check patients in/out
• Operate multi-line phone
• May resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, & serve as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE

• Preparation & coordination of charts
• Organize supporting provider documents
• Initiation & collaboration of patient financial assistance
• Track patient visits & health information management on patient accounts
• Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
• Coordination of Telemed appointments
• Reminder calls for appointments
• Hospital admission
• Office duties, such as make copies or send faxes
