Position Summary
The Cashier performs cashiering duties, including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, giving change, counting cash receipts and completing cash reports. May also perform general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the service and dining room area. The responsibilities include those listed below, but may vary depending on business needs and client requirements.
Hourly Rate: 17.20
Schedule: one weekend a month
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Verify cash at beginning of shift.
- Operate cash register, receive cash from customers or employees, record amounts received.
- Compute or re-compute bills, make change, cash checks, issue receipts.
- Control, organize, monitor, & maintain cash levels in drawer.
- Prepare transaction reports, verify totals on cash register tape against cash on hand.
- Make credit card transactions and be familiar with items for which money is received.
- Give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums for returns, operate ticket-dispensing machine.
- Complete customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all items are input into registers and menu boards.
- Open facility 15 minutes prior to meal service.
- Practice good sanitation techniques.
- Secure the facility at close of meal.
- Follow energy conservation and recycling programs.
- Follow Food Handlers Safety Components and attend related training.
- Report accidents and injuries promptly.
- Follow safety, risk management policies, and participate in safety meetings.
- Attend training programs as required.
- Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Maintain security clearance and comply with Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- Adhere to Operations Security (OPSEC) procedures.
- Manage Government Furnished Property (GFP) according to Property Control Plan.
- Follow safety and health programs compliant with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, DOD, and other regulations.
- Maintain site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
Qualifications And Requirements
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Decision-making and problem-solving under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Cashier experience required.
- Complete ServSafe Food Handler Certification within 30 days.
- Flexible work schedule.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Education, Skills And Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with ALOHA POS system preferred.
