Job Description

The cashier receives cash from customers and employees in payment for goods and services and records the amount received accurately. He/she is often the customer’s last contact with the dealership and must represent the dealership in a friendly, professional manner. The cashier provides assistance to the accounting office as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Calculate the customer’s bill using the dealership’s computer system.
2. Receive cash, checks, and credit card payments from customers and record the amount received on the repair order and/or counter ticket.
3. All personal checks are to be guaranteed. Any checks failing to guarantee must be approved by management.
4. Make change accurately and issue receipts to customers. Have every repair order signed by the customer at the time of payment.
5. Ascertain and record totals of counter tickets and repair orders and verify against all cash, checks, and credit card payments on hand at the end of the shift.
6. Work with department managers to keep abreast of new products and services offered by the dealership and any changes in price.
7. Refer customers who have additional questions to the service advisor or other appropriate individual.
8. Handle customer complaints with integrity and poise and refer the complaining customer to the appropriate individual for further communication.
9. Give cash refunds accurately to customers for approved returned merchandise.
10. Maintain service files timely.
11. Perform receptionist duties as requested.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
13. Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and report any accidents to a manager or supervisor.
14. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
15. Basic skills with computer and other office machines necessary to perform cashiering/clerical duties.
16. Maintain a professional personal appearance.
17. Ability to work well with customers and present a friendly, helpful attitude at all times.

20. All applicants must demonstrate the ability to pass pre-employment testing including background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.
