Hy-Vee is seeking a friendly Checker to join our Grocery team. You’ll operate the register, assist customers, and help ensure a smooth checkout experience. A passion for service and the ability to learn quickly are key as you handle transactions and support store operations.

This hourly role offers on-site shifts with daytime hours, training provided, and the chance to be part of a team that puts customers first. No formal experience required; we’ll train you to succeed.

Qualifications

• No education or experience requirements; we will provide all the training you need to succeed
• Excellent customer service and willingness to learn
• Ability to operate a cash register and handle various payment types

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and assisting them throughout their visit
• Operate the cash register accurately and process payments including cash, checks, credit cards, coupons, and food assistance programs
• Count back change, issue receipts, and handle refunds or credits as needed
• Follow store guidelines to ensure compliance with WIC, food stamps, tobacco, liquor, and lottery rules
• Stock, face, and rotate merchandise; assist customers and support drive-up and carry-out services
• Maintain knowledge of item lookup numbers, department numbers and weekly ad changes
