Job Description

The Cashier manages point-of-sale transactions and customer service at the cafeteria. This role ensures accurate cash handling, maintains cleanliness of the service area, and provides friendly service to students, staff, and visitors.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a cashier or in customer service.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand at a cashier station for extended periods (up to 6–7 hours per shift).
• Frequent reaching, bending, and light lifting to restock supplies and maintain the service area.
• Ability to lift and carry items such as supply boxes, food trays, or beverage containers weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Manual dexterity to operate a point-of-sale ( POS ) system, handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
• Visual acuity to read screens, receipts, and product labels.
• Auditory ability to interact with customers and respond clearly in a noisy cafeteria. environment.
• Capacity to maintain focus and efficiency during busy meal service periods.
