Job summary

Foodland Super Market, Ltd on Hawai`i island is seeking on-island candidates only for a full-time cashier position (40 hours). Pay starts from $19.05/hour, with evenings and weekends strongly preferred; relocation assistance is not provided.

The role involves fast, friendly checkout, bagging, item lookup, basic math, and cash handling. You’ll maintain a neat appearance, follow policies, and participate in training; TB clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High school education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must successfully pass math test.
• Must successfully pass cashier training after hire.
• TB Clearance required.
• Must comply with all company policies and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast, friendly, and accurate checkout services using computerized cash register systems and handling money.
• Bag orders and help shoppers find items in the store.
• Assist in cleaning and dusting check stands and surrounding areas.
• Maintain accuracy with basic math and memorize product codes and weekly ad specials.
• Weigh, scan, and bag orders; perform cash audits of the cash drawer.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and follow dress code.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• providing fast, friendly, and accurate check out services for our customers using computerized cash register systems, handling and counting money
• often bag their customers' orders and help shoppers find items in the store.
• assist in the cleaning and dusting of the check stands and surrounding areas and may take “return” products back to proper shelf locations.
• Accuracy and basic math skills are important, as is the ability to memorize product identification codes and weekly ad specials.
• Weighing, scanning, and bagging orders
• Performing a cash audit of the contents in assigned cash drawer
• General maintenance, dusting, and cleaning of check stands and surrounding area
• Resolving service and product related customer service issues
• Maintaining a neat, well-groomed personal appearance, observing company dress code
• Abiding by all company policies and procedures
• Performing other duties and assignments as directed

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age

• Most duties performed within Front End Department
• Work includes walking, standing for long periods, repetitive hand and arm movements, moderate to frequent lifting, bending, stretching, continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment
