Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Customer service experience
  • Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
  2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  3. Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy.
  4. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work to control loss.
  5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  7. Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  8. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  9. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  10. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
  11. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
  12. Create a welcoming environment, answering questions about products and store services.
  13. Comply with all applicable laws and company policies.
  14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  15. Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
  16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  17. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
